About the Liberty Tree Golf Tournament

Supporting and Educating the Youth of St Johns & Putnam Counties

Our Goal:

The 14th Colony’s Celebration of the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution and the importance of the Liberty Tree. The Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) are elevating awareness of the American struggle for independence and raising money for local education based on our unique American Journey.

The St Augustine Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) will host the “Inaugural Liberty Tree Golf Tournament” on April 26, 2025, at Palatka Golf Course.

The Liberty Tree Golf Tournament at the SAR provides recreational, networking, and fellowship opportunities for our friends, neighbors, and SAR chapter members. We expect over 100 golfers to participate in this exciting and fun-filled tournament!

Funding from this tournament goes into educational development in support of local educational American History-based opportunities for students in St. Johns and Putnam Counties. In addition, if the proceeds are adequate, we will provide a college scholarship to an “Outstanding Student Who Makes a Difference” in the local community. That student will show Leadership, Love of Country, and a significant interest in our nation's values and founding history. The scholarship will be equal to the academic cost for two (2) semesters at a university within the State of Florida College system.

About The Course:
  • 1 of 4 Donald Ross Courses in Florida

  • Top 30 Public Courses in the USA

  • The course has a ”links touch with a natural feel”

  • Donald Ross designed Pinehurst Course #2

"Just over the expansive waters of the St. Johns River and through the quaint downtown of Palatka, you’ll find a vintage course that offers an authentic experience at a reasonable cost.

Palatka Golf Club was designed by Donald Ross in 1925. In a natural, clutter-free environment, the holes gently tumble over the sandy ridges and wrap the tranquil woods of Ravine Gardens State Park.

The experience at Palatka Golf Club revolves around the game’s traditional cornerstones: a reasonable price, interesting holes, and a pleasant staff that loves golf as much as you do. The course can be played quickly and enjoyably, offering golfers the best thrills of the game without taking up the day."
